Teresa Hartigan & family, Templetuohy, Co. Tipperary, Ireland

I feel privileged and blessed to have known John Moylan for over 40 years. He was a beautiful, kind, caring and generous man. My family and I have fond memories of his visits to Ireland. He created fun and adventure on his arrival. On one trip John arrived unannounced with 25 of his rugby friends. They played matches in Thurles, Nenagh and Kilkenny. They created a sensation wherever they went especially when ordering 25 pints per round in the local pubs. The barmen could hardly keep up. They all had a wonderful time with John as their local guide. John and I had many things in common. We both loved history and that translated to visiting museums, stately homes and castles whenever he came home. On his last trip home in 2018, he restored an old plough and donated it to Donaghmore Famine Museum. He also restored and re-erected an old Celtic cross, which is a landmark on the roadside in memory of a man who was killed in an accident in 1901. We visited DeVesci House in Abbeyleix (built in 1773) and had a fabulous day there. I will cherish these memories forever. Of course, all these outings were followed by a trip to the local pub in the evening. John was in his element there relating stories of his great adventures. John, I will miss you. May the heavens be your bed. I will always hold you close within my heart and there you shall remain until we meet again. Thanks for all you have done. Rest in peace my friend. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal. Teresa and family. x
